Here at Zephyr we utilise both Silk screen and Digital printing onto a variety of polyester and coated substrates. Currently screen printing is still the most cost effective process for large quantities, it produces strong vibrant colours and can produce designs in both line colour or 4 colour process or a combination of both. The resulting printed flag is suitable for exterior and interior use being both waterproof and fade resistant and also lightweight which means that larger flags can be flown for instance where the heavier appliqued version cannot.
For shorter runs and more complex 4 colour process designs, digital printing is the most suitable method. This method allows for a faster turn around since it is a more simplified process.
Printed flags are available as single or double sided, we can also print which which in turn can be appliqued onto a flag. From large flags, shaped flags to small pennants and burgees we can meet your demand and quality expectations.
Our most common substrate is knitted zephpol, (knitted polyester 110g) usually printed as a single thickness flag, reading correctly from one side and mirror image on the reverse. Flags are available as double sided with an interliner, this option is only suitable for portrait designs with an arm, for double sided landscape flags, we recommend using our black backed material, these though cannot be rewashed unlike many of our other substrates, the double sided flags are heavier and this will need to be taken into consideration when being flown.
We are constantly asked for harder wearing flags, flags that remain intact for much longer avoiding expensive site visits to change flags and environmentally friendly by printing less flags.
Our solution is our Zephpol IEP (Intelligent Engineered Polyester) a breakthrough against natural wear and tear; engineered cloth that protects against the elements. Single thickness 155g flags printed from each side to give enhanced graphic – reading correctly from one side and mirror image on the reverse.
There is of course an initial high outlay for flags of such quality and longevity but recouped handsomely over their lifetime. Signage companies and Developers are voicing their interest in such a product as the benefits are clear.
We have had some positive feedback on our newest substrate, see typical client feedback below –
“The Zephpol (IEP) Intelligent Engineered Polyester flag material has proven to be very cost effective, in the past the standard material would start to fray after a few weeks but after six months of constant flying our union jack flags are still in perfect condition despite the abuse from wind and rain they receive on our Town Hall roof.”

“The flags have lasted really well. We haven’t had to change any of them in the last sixth months and this was through a winter season. Similarly the colour has lasted very well. I understand the flags we are currently using are an upgraded version – I think this was well worth the investment as they are a lot harder wearing than the previous quality so can withstand the Cornish weather!”
